How we protect your information
We protect the security of the information you submit to us with a variety of robust physical and electronic procedures and we have put into place precautions to protect such information from loss and misuse. If you choose to pay your deposit online, you must use a secure socket layer enabled browser because we use industry standard secure socket layer encryption to protect the confidentiality of your information while it is transmitted over the Internet. Any credit card information used to pay a deposit online is deleted once the deposit transaction is completed.
While we strive to protect your Personal Information, we cannot ensure the security of the information you transmit to us, and so we urge you to take every precaution to protect your personal data when you are on the Internet. We suggest that you change your passwords often, that your passwords include a combination of letters and numbers, and that you make certain that you are using a secure browser. Products and services are available which can help give you privacy protection while navigating the Web.
How and why we collect information
When you visit the Sungevity Website, we collect and store the name of the domain and host from which you accessed the site, the IP address of the computer you used, the browser software and operating system you used, the date and time you accessed the site, the IP address you accessed it from, cookie information and all pages within the Sungevity Website which you access. We may put small data files called “cookies” on your computer. One kind of cookie identifies you as you move through our site and makes it easier for you to view various site pages. This cookie sits in your computer, not our system, and it expires when you log out and close your browser. Other cookies retain information to make your use of our site easier, for example, viewing options in your iQuote. Our cookies are coded so that we’re the only ones who can use that information, and you can set your browser to decline any cookie downloads if you wish, though that may change your browsing experience and might make it difficult for you to pay your deposit online.
If you request an iQuote, we will ask you to give us Personal Information (such as your name, email address and phone number) as well as the name of your utility and your electricity usage in order for us to prepare a personalized iQuote for your home. As such, when you log in to our Website to view your iQuote, we will recognize you as a returning user.
When you request an iQuote you will receive emails from us which will include a password-protected link to access your iQuote. We will also email you information about pricing and financing, rebates and tax credits and answer any questions you may have. If you purchase a system, then you will receive emails regarding payment, customer support and installation scheduling. We may also collect information about your transactions with us, the features of any order for product that you place with us, and any specific instructions you give regarding a purchase or service. We may collect information from you in other ways, such as when you correspond with us, participate in an online survey or contact an installer in our network of preferred installers or customer support team. We’ll also collect (and then delete) credit card payment information if you pay your deposit online.
